“We had a narrow entryway and needed a table for the phone, keys etc and a couple of drawers. Something simple and straight forward that looked elegant. We gave Griff our available space and how we would use the table. He got back to us with a drawing of a Shaker style long narrow table in cherry that would fit perfectly. Griff delivered exactly what we were looking for with a stylish, timely, professional and affordable piece of furniture. Thanks Griff”

“A uniformity of utility, simplicity and elegance come together in Griff Outlaw’s handmade furniture, in a manner that inadvertently draws you to circle the piece about which you will next sit on, touch and address in a nod of satisfaction. It’s like two entangled metal puzzle pieces that come apart once you understand the simple secret. Consequently, Griff has the aptitude to dissect such ruses with aplomb in an ease that places him in higher sphere of intelligence. One design of Griff’s is a stool: I own it and have logged hours proudly shifting around atop of the oily-smooth wooded seat that’s companioned with slender firm legs and an iron ring. The piece is strikingly chic yet strong enough for an elephant to test. I love how the verticals meet within the imagined cylinder below the rounded disc of imported rare wood – they enter the centermost point as if in deference to the foot ring which zings around the perimeter at the most appropriate height for whatever kind of shoe the sitter may have on. It’s a room stealer and the most popular perch in the kitchen.

A family-like relationship exists among the multiple pieces of Harbor Hill Design.  Much like one would register after walking into a reunion, there is commonality felt in fresh unseen kind of way: you know  all are connected but you still look around the room to confirm. Ergonomic elements exist in a way that implies that the notion of a human’s connection with an inanimate device was well implied with the furniture line before such a consideration became vogue: the furniture article is merely there for one’s practical comfort and point of rest or for a more collective pensive-type moment. I enjoy another Harbor Hill Design – that of an upright desk in the center of my gallery, where it holds its own among the ‘fine art’ and has a grand presence in the open space.  Customers enter the space based on its strong hold in the window and ask about  it.

Griff applies sensible Amish-like ‘out-of-the-barn’ style that would make Thomas Moser think again about designing comfortable wooden time-pieces for the home or office.  No ego in this line of work; just handsome, lifestyle accoutrements to enjoy for as long as desired."

"Griff has been making high quality wood pieces and furniture for decades. His work is stunning in its simplicity and straightforward, unique yet functional design. I am lucky enough to count several pieces in my collection which are 20 years old and still reflecting his special touch. These are considered heirloom items for sure."
